It’s time to get those tires muddy! If you love off-roading adventures, we’ve found the best places to put your vehicle to the test. Explore these locations this summer to have a fantastic off-roading adventure.

Best Places to Off-Road in the US

Grand Junction, Colorado

Head towards the Colorado/Utah border to experience some of the best off-roading in the west. Whether you want to get muddy on the Grand Mesa trail or crawl through softer terrain on Road 29, Grand Junction has it all.

Washington Backcountry Discovery Route, Washington

Perfect for the expert off-roader or a weekend amateur, this Discovery Route promises diverse landscapes that verge from beautiful rainforests in the Cascades to the warm desert region in Eastern Washington.

Silver Lake Dunes, Michigan

Sand dunes offer a completely different type of challenge from muddy or rocky trails. These dunes cover around 500 acres and will provide quite the adrenaline rush as you fight your way up a hill and fly down the other side.

Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest, Georgia

If you’re looking for something a little closer to home, try Georgia! There are more than 80 trails for you and your vehicle to explore, as well as all the beautiful scenery the South can offer.

The Rubicon Trail, California

This is a more experienced trail for a more experienced off-roader. The Rubicon is a notoriously difficult, 22-mile trail that requires a delicate hand, strategic head, and patient heart. This trail is the legend by which all other roads are measured.

Bonus: Whipsaw Trail, BC

We threw this trail in as a bonus for two reasons: it’s not technically in the United States, but it is a fantastic chance to explore the beautiful Canadian scenery. This trail is 50 miles and can be accomplished in a day, but we recommend taking your time to camp and enjoy the lakes and meadows that dot the British Columbia countryside.
